"All of New York is a set"

Last night we heard what sounded like semi-trucks pulling up in front of our apartment. "What in the world? Its the middle of the night!" I told Steven I thought they were food trucks bringing food to the cafeteria. Upon seeing 4 or 5 trailers actually parked there in the morning, Steven thought our building was holding a blood drive.
Turns out, 20th Century Fox owned the trailers (our guesses were a little off) and Ben Stiller was filming a movie down the street. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. We got to stand at our subway stop and watch them film a scene where Ben Stiller is imagining himself saving a bunch of people from a burning building and he runs out the door carrying two people on his shoulders. It was awesome to see an actual scene being filmed- from the director throwing his hand down to say action and then seeing the actors /directors go watch the scene on some monitors and talk about it. We couldn't believe how many people were involved in the movie and how much time goes into every single scene.

After Walter Mitty was finished we got an email saying HBO was filming a movie about Mohammed Ali at the International House. We didn't see any of the stars, but they were shining these lights up at the windows of the gym when they were filming a scene in there.

We can't wait to see these movies and remember some of the places we lived in during our time here in the city.
