China Town and the Long Commute Home

Saturday we went to Chinatown and saw a lot of singing (there was probably 4 or 5 groups in the same park performing traditional songs)...

 A lot of card playing....

and a lot of people just sitting and talking. It was a fun experience to walk past the crowded part of Chinatown where tourists are trying to buy handbags and watches, and see this park where people were just hanging out.

And then we had the Long Commute Home. I've realized that going anywhere here is semi-exhausting. When you leave your house to go downtown, etc., you are leaving for a while and walking everywhere. If you have to run errands or get groceries, it makes it even more difficult carrying everything. I have new respect for people (especially grocery-shoppers).

We stopped at Trader Joe's, got on our train, missed our stop to get off because people were blocking the doors, had to go to the next stop and get on the downtown train which was running late and therefore skipped our stop where we needed to get off, and took us back practically to where we first got on. We were laughing at this point. As you can tell from this picture, I was thrilled.
I really do like the subway, but sometimes I am looking forward to going back to a car.

  1. I like your striped shirt. You should always have a book with you so in those moments you don't feel like you are wasting so much time.

  3. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Looks like you look like me when I'm tired of walking and must have a chocolate soft-serve cone or Belgian Chocolate shake.
